In Ho Chi Minh City, BAJ has been implementing a comprehensive community improvement programs in the poverty area called An Khanh Ward which lies across the Saigon River from the central district of Ho Chi Minh.

Promotion of Micro-Finance and Saving at An Khanh Ward
BAJ encourages the people with lower income to utilize the micro-finance for the purpose of promoting small-scale business and school attendance of children in the poverty area. Simultaneously, savings among a group are encouraged, so that people don't depend on local money lender and learn the management of finance and savings by themselves.

Environmental Education Program at An Khanh Ward
The municipal waste collection service is not prevalent enough at An Khanh Ward. Therefore, BAJ encourages the children in the poverty area to organize environmental improvement activities such as waste separation and recycle, how to compost from food scraps, and plantation along parks and banks of the Saigon River.

Assistance in Education at An Khanh Ward

BAJ organizes tutoring classes for the children four times a week to encourage them to be more interested in attending schools since many children in the areas drop out of schools with various reasons. Literacy courses for parents who are illiterate are also held. BAJ also organizes events for parents and children. "Fund for the Sparkling Children of Asia (AJIKO Fund) " encourages the children to make their dreams come true by providing scholarship to them.

Support for the Disabled Children

BAJ has been assisting Tien An School for the visually impaired since 2003 by providing basic medical knowledge and medical massage trainings as well as Japanese lessons to increase students' job opportunities. "Fund for the Sparkling Children of Asia (AJIKO Fund) " also supports the children's aspiration for higher education.
