Our Gratitude for your Support, and a Report on the March 11 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Efforts and Reconstruction Assistance
On March 11th, 2011, an unprecedented earthquake and tsunami hit the Tohoku region in Japan. Please accept our sincere gratitude for your considerable support and words of encouragement.
Over the past seven months, the donations you have contributed
were spent on providing vehicles for transporting food, goods and people. They
were also spent on cooking utensils. All of your cards and messages were
displayed in community spaces where the disaster victims gather, and many have
expressed their appreciation for your generosity.
Your donations were also used to distribute warm meals to evacuees
in the Ofunato and Rikuzentakata cities in Iwate prefecture. These two cities
were some of the most affected areas in the disaster.
In Rikuzentakata city, the local driving school provided a kitchen
space where we cooked well-balanced meals. In the "Heartfelt Kitchen
Rikuzentakata (Magokoro Kitchen Rikuzentakata)" project, we distributed a total
of 40,000 meals over the period of 4 months, from June 8th to
October 4th, to evacuees in evacuation centers and temporary
housings, as well as those who live in their own homes.
In Ofunato city, we worked with the local voluntary group "San-san
no Kai". The city provided a kitchen space in Rias Hall, where we made a total
of 200,000 lunch boxes for evacuees in evacuation centers and temporary
housings, as well as those who live in their own homes.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation for your
contributions and warm messages during this difficult time. The affected areas
will have to face a harsh winter season from now on, and BAJ will continue its
efforts in assisting those evacuees who moved to temporary housings.
Once again, thank you very much for your support.
