Emergency Appeal for March 11 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster

On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake of magnitude 9.0, triggering catastrophic Tsunami waves, occurred off the Pacific coast of the northeastern part of Japan (Tohoku region). This earthquake was the highest ever-recorded. 

The number of deaths in 12 prefectures came to 13,538 and that of people reported missing came to 14,589 as of April 15, according to the Japanese National Police Agency. There are still needs for emergency relief and other humanitarian efforts.

 

We offer our deepest sympathy to all earthquake and tsunami survivors and condolences for the victims.

 

Since start of April 2011, BAJ has been working together with a voluntary group called "San San no Kai," led by an Italian food chef in Ofunato City, Iwate prefecture. We have been providing 1500 warm meals everyday for the survivors of March 11 Japan earthquake and tsunami.

We ask for your support through donations and would like you to call on your friends and family for their donations to help as many survivors in this devastating disaster. 

Your donations are used for BAJ's reconstruction efforts and for supporting voluntary groups and NPOs in the disaster affected areas.
