【Emergency Appeal】Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster

 

On March 11 2011, a massive earthquake of magnitude 9.0, triggering catastrophic Tsunami waves, occurred off the Pacific coast of the northeastern part of Japan (Tohoku region). This earthquake was the highest ever-recorded in Japan. The number of deaths in 12 prefectures came to 9,737 and that of people reported missing climbed to 16,501 as of March 24, according to the Japanese National Police Agency. In the affected regions, there are still needs for relief, fuel, and transport as well as other humanitarian efforts.

 

We offer our deepest sympathy to all earthquake and tsunami survivors and condolences for the victims.

 

Bridge Asia Japan (BAJ) is an independent Japanese NGO, and we have been carrying out many activities since 1993 to work together with people in Asia. Currently, we operate in Vietnam and Myanmar, however, we decided to provide emergency reconstruction assistance in the very country we live in for the first time. We ask for your support through donations and would like you to call on your friends and family for their donations to help as many survivors in this devastating disaster. 

Your donations will be used for BAJ's reconstruction efforts and for provision of aid and support to local Japanese NGOs in the disaster affected areas.
